A revolutionary change in medical testing technology.

A revolutionary change in sonication and medical testing technologies.

SprinTech has developed a new patented sonication technology for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) sample preparation and other applications* that will benefit from sonication external to the target medium. For example, this closed-sample high energy sonicator allows PCR sample preparation to be done safely outside of a medical lab.

The SprinTech sonicator pictured below will now undergo rigorous testing. Sonication energy is predicted to be about 70 w/cm2 and retail cost is expected to be under $500.

Following testing the SprinTech sonicator will be available for sale as a stand-alone sonicator. It will also be miniaturized and integrated into a point-of-care PCR test device that can produce a test result in 45 minutes. The system is expected to be available within a few months and sell for about one third the cost of the Cepheid Gene Xpert system just announced for COVID-19 point-of-care testing.

This sonicator, when coupled with SprinTech’s Rapid DNA replication technology will allow point-of-care PCR testing to be decreased to about 11 minutes.

When these technologies are then coupled with SprinTech’s novel PCR reading system, point-of-care PCR testing may be reduced to about 5 minutes with an estimated cost and time reduction of about 95%.

*Other applications may include: PCR lab sample preparation, lab and industry use where the material to be sonicated (biological or chemical) must be safely contained and not exposed to the air, nanoparticle dispersion, mixing a suspension, breaking up material that is adhering, cleaning micro-instruments, and many more applications.

The high energy closed-sample sonicator breaks up highly resistant bacterial spores and viral capsids to release DNA or RNA without risk of pathogenic material to the operator because the sample tube is closed.

Many high energy sonicators use a probe that must be placed into the sample to be effective. Thus pathogenic material may be exposed to the air. In this technique the sample must be sonicated in a containment lab.

Our high energy closed-sample sonicator allows pathogenic DNA or RNA to be released for PCR processing without the need for a containment lab.
